Agus began his ceramics journey in his home town of Ubud, Bali in 2007. After learning the ins and outs of the craft, Agus managed another ceramics studio for many years before deciding to open his own space.

Thio Ceramics focuses on creating functional and decorative handmade ceramics for the home as well as hospitality. The studio offers group classes, private classes and workshops in Ubud, Bali.

Located only minutes from Ubud Centre and the famous Tegallalang rice terraces, Thio Ceramics is perfectly situated to do some Ceramics shopping or to pop in for a pottery class.

What does the name Thio stand for?

The name Thio comes from the ancient Chinese surname Zhang, which was carried by Agus’ ancenstors who came to Indonesia from mainland China in the 19th century. Even though Agus was born and raised in Ubud, he still feels a strong connection to Chinese culture and honours both cultures equally.
